Forever Remains

First post after the holidays due to COVID. It literally laid me (all of us actually) out for 11 days.

Here’s a little something to tide us over until next week.

In the stillness of the night,Footsteps echo, soft but sure.A shadow stalks, unseen, unheard,Its intent cold, relentless, pure.

Heartbeats race, a frantic drum,Eyes wide in terror, breaths come quick.Whispers of fate, a chilling hum,The predator's eyes, were cold and slick.

Silent prayers to a deafening void,Hope flickers, a dimming flame.Survival's dance, a treacherous ploy,Escape, the haunting, relentless aim.

Every shadow, a lurking threat,Every sound, a dagger's twist.Yet amidst the fear, a fire is met,A will to live, to persist, to resist.

The night drags on, an eternity's wait,The predator's steps, ever near. But with dawn's first light, a cruel twist of fate,The hunted becomes the hunter, the end draws near.

A scream, a struggle, a final plea,Echoes fade, and silence reigns.Survival's price, a soul set free,But the horror forever remains.
