2020 Lamar - The Candyman's House
In the 1970s a serial rapist and murderer called The Candyman was operating in the Houston area. He was obviously a piece of shit but that isn’t our story, however it’s important to know because the house where he lived still stands. It’s also the house where he performed atrocities against teenage boys and murdered them.
One of those intended victims was a 15-year-old girl Rhonda Willams whom Henley had brought along because of her family situation and fully expected that this night would just be to hang out - not rape and kill. However, Corll was unhappy. No girls had ever been in his home and now he felt that Henley had tainted it with her presence.
By August 8, 1973, Dean Corll had murdered 28 boys and young men. It was also the day that his helper turned on him. Elmer Henley convinced Corll to give him the gun because he wanted to participate in killing one of two victims that were already tied up. Instead, Henley shot Corll three times killing the monster.

All that is to say that The Candyman’s house is haunted. Men who enter then home often do not experience any paranormal activity. However, the presence of teen boys will provoke it. It’s unclear whether it’s the spirit of the victims or of Corll himself. But if there are women or girls present actual touching occurs. A potential buyer said his wife’s face was scratched by “something that wasn’t there.” One of the former residents said that she would feel someone watching her when she slept and often awoke to the smell of liquor and paint fumes. There were times that someone or something whispered in her ear that she “ruined everything.”
Currently, the home is a rental property. When I looked it up on Google Maps, the home is blurred out as if to censor it. I don’t know the story there.
What I do know is that if you’re in the Vince Heights neighborhood, watch your step. Corll’s ghost may be prowling for his next victim.
