Palestine, Texas is Haunted

The Bowers Mansion

This is the Bowers Mansion in Palestine, Texas. Back in the 1950s, the Bowers family had lived here for generations. Andrew Bowers, the one time mayor of the city, had left the house to his eldest son John. John became a lawyer and set up his household with his wife Mary. Mary, however, had eyes on another man. When she told John she was leaving him, he asked her to stay for just one more night.

At some point in the night, John shot and killed Mary and then himself.

All the normal markings of a haunting are there - cold spots, odd noises, and objects relocating themselves. However, those that have spent the night in the historical landmark home, report all not just those things, but also the sounds of the murder reliving itself.

Around 3 a.m. sometimes visitors are woken by three gunshots. By the time they get down the stairs, they’re greeted with overturned chairs and the glimpse of a crying man who then shoots himself in the head. The phantom then crumples to the floor and disappears.

If you’re interested in spending the night to see for yourself, you can buy tickets and investigate for yourself. If you see John let me know.
